Our story

Koelenberg means cold mountain

Sheep farmers named the ridge for the cold air that drains off it at night, long before the first vines went in. Today eighteen hectares of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grow in twelve blocks between 310 and 390 metres, above a cellar cut into the shale.

“The afternoon wind comes straight off the Atlantic. It is why the fruit keeps its acid, and why we pick in the cold of the morning.”
